Hey guys! Welcome to the new website for Students for Life. I obviously have a LOT of time! Here are a few things I have been thinking about for what I want to do with the website in order to make our group way accessible to students or to whomever:
The blog is going to be the first thing that people see when they get to the homepage. Here, special announcements as well as notifications about events, etc. will be posted. Interesting articles that anybody finds can be sent to me and I will also post it here. Pictures and videos of our events can also be put right on this page.
The aboutpage is going to feature S4L’s mission statement. Do we have one? If not, we can brainstorm about it. This page will also feature pictures of all the officers, their names, and contact info (e-mail), maybe a brief bio if each member wants.
The events page is self-explanatory. It will feature all upcoming and planned events for the entire year, as well as any other information that will be important pertaining to the events.
Resources will be a page where we can gather links to important places of information or businesses pertaining to pro-life issues, like information pages about abortion and stem-cell research, to links of important businesses like Lakeshore PC and other west-Michigan help centers, like YWCA.
I was thinking I would add another link specifically for the March for Life. This way, it will catch newcomers’ eye and hopefully get people interested.
FAQ is going to be a page with FAQ, obviously. But I need the “Q” from YOU. So we have to brainstorm together to come up with some good questions that we receive or would receive, as well as the answers, regarding NOT ONLY our positions about human dignity and life, but also questions like, “What can I do if I am pregnant?” As I have said before, however, there is a resources page that a woman who is pregnant can turn to, but read on for more good stuff!
I was also thinking of adding a sidebar link that says HELP. This bar would lead to a page that would have important information in case a woman finds herself pregnant and needs help ASAP. We could put an emergency number on there, or emergency contact, so that in case somebody needs it, we have the resources to help her immediately; not just a phone number, but a human being to talk to. Even if it helps one woman in the next year, that will have been good. If it doesn’t help anybody, at least it was out there just in case.
I enabled commenting for this post so TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK!!! Don’t forget to sign your name as well.
